Bio

I started painting 12 years ago. It was something I always knew I needed to do; it just took some time to get started. I found watercolor paintings to be the most interesting, intriguing pieces of art. Photography, drawing and my career as a graphic designer, have kept me focused on art all through my life.

I am fascinated by nature and, even more so, by the details of nature. The relationships between one object and its neighbor, their contrasts and similarities, are so intriguing. Realistic and abstract views of the same subject give endless inspiration.

In the past few years I have been exploring monoprinting, acrylics, mixed media and collage, as well as continuing with watercolor. I am intrigued by the variations that you can achieve with these mediums. I like to respond to the actions on the painting surface and enhance it. Each painting is an adventure, an exploration.

If I can lead you to see something new, something different, then we have both enjoyed the journey.

 

I have taken workshops with Chris Hero, George James, Carole Myers, Pat San Soucie, Betsy Dillard Stroud, Ruby Wang, Tom Fong, John Salminen and Lawrence Yun. And studied life drawing with Richard Stephens for 3 years. I have also attend the annual Henry Fukuhara workshop at Manzanar, in Lone Pine, four days of plein aire painting.

I am a member of the South Bay Watercolor Society, Redondo Beach Art Group and South Bay Experimental Artists. I have exhibited in local galleries and group shows in Gardena, Redondo Beach, San Pedro and Torrance.
